Domaine Henri Ruppert is one of the most traditional wineries in the Luxembourg Moselle. The Ruppert family has been cultivating vines since the 17th century, with the estate established in Schengen in 1904. Today, Henri Ruppert leads the operation in its eighth generation, supported by his nephew Nicolas Ruppert, who is gradually taking on more responsibility to ensure the family legacy continues.
The estate spans around 16 hectares of steep vineyards around Schengen, including Markusberg, Felsberg, and Hommelsberg. The soils - composed of limestone, sand, and quartzite - together with the exposed sites, shape the character of the wines. The focus is on low yields, selective hand harvesting, and meticulous vineyard work to produce healthy, aromatic grapes.
In the cellar, tradition meets modern technology: stainless steel tanks preserve freshness and fruit in the white wines, while oak barrels give the more complex cuvées depth and structure. The portfolio ranges from elegant Pinot Blancs and Rieslings to expressive Pinot Noirs aged in barrique, as well as specialties like Crémant de Luxembourg and Vin de Paille. The Sélection 12 line offers wines that balance approachable elegance with terroir-driven depth.
A striking feature is the modern winery building above Schengen, designed by architect François Valentiny. Its bold architecture of concrete, glass, and wood blends harmoniously into the Markusberg vineyards and is visible from afar. From the large terrace, visitors enjoy sweeping views over the Moselle Valley, making every visit memorable. In the wine bar, guests can taste the estate’s wines on-site and enjoy small dishes and snacks from the house menu. The distinctive building shape is so iconic that it inspired the winery’s logo - a symbol of the connection between architecture, wine, and landscape.
The estate also offers tours and cellar visits (by appointment) and provides spaces for private celebrations or events. With its large hall and terrace, Domaine Henri Ruppert is a sought-after event location, with catering and equipment available to suit individual needs.
Domaine Henri Ruppert stands for craftsmanship, authenticity, and the careful passing down of knowledge and passion across generations - combined with a unique location where wine, architecture, and the Moselle panorama come together.
