Pundel Vins Purs stands for authentic wines with a strong focus on their origin. The Pundel family has been involved in winemaking for 13 generations. Today, Pit Pundel cultivates more than eight hectares around Wormeldange and follows a clear philosophy: the character of a wine should be shaped in the vineyard, not in the cellar.
The vines grow in some of Wormeldange’s best-known vineyard sites, including Koeppchen, Nossbam, Wäibuer, Elterberg and Peteschwengert. The latter is home to a Riesling parcel planted by the family as early as 1900, making it one of the oldest vineyards in Luxembourg.
In the cellar, intervention is kept to a minimum. Fermentation takes place with naturally occurring wild yeasts, without the use of industrial cultured yeasts. Pit Pundel also largely avoids the traditional ageing of wines in small barrique barrels. The goal always remains the same: to reflect the soil, climate and vines in the wine as purely and authentically as possible.
The result is a range of predominantly very dry, precise and terroir-driven wines that express the individual character of the different vineyard sites around Wormeldange. This is exactly what the name Pundel Vins Purs represents – wines that reveal their origin in the purest and most authentic way possible.
