About us

Domaine Viticole Max-Lahr et Fils, located at the entrance of Ahn on the Luxembourg Moselle, is a family winery deeply rooted in its terroirs. Led by Bob Max, the estate is known for its authentic and grounded approach to winemaking, working with nature rather than against it.

The winery cultivates around five hectares of vineyards, all located directly around the village, benefiting from some of Luxembourg’s most renowned sites such as Palmberg, Göllebour and Vogelsang. These terroirs are central to the identity of the estate and are regularly showcased through guided vineyard walks with tastings, notably during events like the Riesling Open in mid September.

Bob Max pays close attention to vineyard management, practicing permanent grass cover between rows and adapting his work to the natural growth cycle of the vines. Harvest decisions are made patiently, often waiting longer to achieve optimal ripeness and expressive fruit.

In the cellar, the wines mature in historic underground vaulted cellars, fermenting slowly in stainless steel tanks. Long fermentations are favored to enhance structure and aromatic complexity. The Palmberg and Göllebour Rieslings are regarded as consistent benchmarks of the estate’s style.

Beyond wine, distillation is a long standing family tradition. As the last distiller in the village, Bob Max produces refined eaux de vie from fruits grown in his own orchards, including mirabelle, cherry, plum and aged marc.
