About us

In the valleys of the Sûre and the Moselle, young Luxembourgish winemaker Georges Schiltz cultivates more than grapes – he cultivates a philosophy. A trained geographer, he returned home to protect his country’s cultural landscape and agricultural heritage. Without coming from a winemaking family, Georges followed his curiosity into viticulture, learning by doing and experimenting in iconic vineyards such as Clos de la joie and Palmberg. He lets wild herbs grow freely and preserves ancient dry stone walls, believing that biodiversity strengthens the vines and brings greater depth to the wines. His approach is one of respect – for the soil, the fruit, and the rhythm of nature. His wine label, “Fru,” embodies this vision: it stands for fruit, joy, and savor – a tribute to life’s simple pleasures and to the grape that started it all. The name also nods to the Latin word “fruor,” meaning “to enjoy.” For Georges, “Fru” is more than a brand – it is a philosophy of living in harmony with nature, celebrating craftsmanship, authenticity, and the quiet beauty of his Luxembourgish homeland.
