The 2024 Sylvaner from Domaine Schram is a wine with cultural significance. At a time when the variety had nearly vanished in Luxembourg, the estate revived it to preserve tradition and conviction. The vines, planted in 1984 on the south-facing Kurschels slope near Wellenstein, thrive on shell limestone and keuper soils that bring structure and minerality. The wine is clear, elegant and terroir-driven, stylistically positioned between Pinot Blanc and Auxerrois. It combines the creaminess of Auxerrois with the linear precision of Pinot Blanc, complementing food without overpowering it. While most producers use Sylvaner only in blends, Schram is the only winery in Luxembourg to vinify it as a single varietal. About ninety percent ferments in stainless steel, with ten to twelve percent aged in barrique for added texture and roundness. It pairs beautifully with asparagus, white fish or stronger cheeses.
